Family Houses by the Sea by Alexandra D'Arnoux, is one of my favorite home design books because none of the homes featured--rustic cottages and estates alike--has been professionally decorated. They are all lived-in, family gathering places with beautiful backdrops. The design of these special spaces in France, England, the United States, and Scandinavia is all about comfort, meaningful collections, and natural inspiration. One of the featured homes is Seagull House in Devon (below), designed by the homeowner himself--Roderick James.
