I'm liking these linen pillows from textile artist Charlene Mullen--great, bold graphics embroidered in the traditional style. Available at Margaret Howell. Below: Selections from Mullen's "Geometric" collection.

nesting boxes

I love these gift (or keepsake) boxes from Smock. Imagine a pretty grosgrain or satin bow with these...they would be hard to part with!

snail mail my email

While checking out the blog of my favorite stationery shop, Felix Doolittle, I came across a wonderful project called Snail Mail My Email. This letter-writing project, brought to life by artist Ivan Cash, "is a month-long worldwide collaborative art project that ran from July 15 - August 15, 2011. The project allowed people to email a letter, which was then handwritten by volunteers — complete with customizable options like a doodle, flower petal or lipstick kiss if desired — and mailed to the recipient, completely free of charge." In the end, "234 volunteers from around the world wrote 10,457 letters that were sent to over 70 countries spanning across all seven continents." Isn't that remarkable? The photos above are from the project's Flickr photostream.

house tour: old english

Sneak a peek inside this wonderful old seaside house in Kent. See more here (photos: Brent Darby). Pretty nice view from the terrace, huh?! Fun fact: The c. 1730s range was part of the kitchen restoration.

linen + bubbles

I love this linen pillow cover from Pillowlink. The 20 x 20 flax linen cover has a fun white and gray bubble print on both sides ($26 + shipping; also available in 16 x16). See more pretty, eco-friendly designs (like these striped tea towels) from shop owner Rosita here

bathroom of the week

This bath, in a c. 1870s French Creole-style cottage on Florida's Apalachicola River, has such a serene view (the home, owned by a cookbook author, overlooks a nature preserve). Below: Another peek at the cottage. Read about the period-style restoration (and relocation) and see more of this cottage here (photos: Randy O'Rourke for New Old House).
